Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, and directing the work efforts of the production operations department to meet and/or exceed productivity, safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals, while ensuring the department operates according to established company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Direct, coordinate, and monitor daily activities and performance of production associates and the material handling area to ensure delivery of high productivity, quality, and customer service.
  • Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring, and conflict resolution.
  • Take corrective action promptly following company policy.
  • Conduct regular department or pre‑shift meetings to foster engagement, communicate policy changes, address concerns, and solicit improvement ideas.
  • Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action, and terminations as necessary.
  • Evaluate business demand, prioritize, and distribute daily work assignments.
  • Establish line assignment and staffing based on the line priority list.
  • Determine and monitor workstation assignments, associate breaks, and required overtime.
  • Meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels in material handling and production areas using a warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Review and record all production documentation.
  • Assist in implementing lean principles using 5S, Kaizen, and Kanban.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by directing safety training, generating, and reviewing standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Coordinate with the safety department for training, observations, preferred work method updates, root‑cause investigations, and routine inspections.
Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
Professional Skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents and regulations.
  • Competent in writing reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective presenter and responder in management and cross‑departmental settings.
  • Proactive team leadership and individual engagement.
  • Basic arithmetic to support all units of measure.
  • Provide training in SOP, safety, and conduct.
  • Apply policies consistently, timely, and objectively.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple deadlines, shifting priorities as needed.
  • Resolve problems promptly, analyze data, and develop preventive solutions.
  • Decision‑making with proactive solutions.
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Adaptability to warehouse and point‑of‑sale technology, including WMS.
Physical Demand
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, operate computer and phone equipment.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms, climb or balance.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Requires close and distance vision, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing and warehouse setting with exposure to humidity, temperature extremes, mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and outdoor conditions.
  • Moderate noise in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Use of scanner, power hand jack, manual hand jack, stacker, and forklift.
  • Mandatory PPE: goggles, hairnets, steel‑toed boots.
  • Travel to other office locations or events may be required.
  • Personal vehicle use may involve long periods of sitting.
  • Valid state driver’s license and liability coverage required.
  • Potential evening, weekend, or shift work based on business needs.
