Responsibilities
- Assists the Recreation Leader with the planning, implementation, and supervision of activities and events for the summer camp program.
- Supports daily camp operations, ensures camper safety, and helps create a positive, engaging, and supportive environment where campers can grow, learn, and explore.
- Serves as a positive role model while working collaboratively with other City camp staff.
- Oversee daily camper check-in and check-out procedures.
- Oversee camper participation in organized games and activities.
- Encourage proper skill development and promote safety at all times.
- Provide general oversight and supervision of campers.
- Plan and implement indoor and outdoor activities, including but not limited to:
- Weekly themes
- Arts and crafts
- Character-building activities
- Social skills development
- Health and wellness activities
- Field trips
- Service-learning projects
- Maintain a safe and protected environment for all campers.
- Demonstrate experience, maturity, enthusiasm, a love for children, and a strong desire to be a positive role model.
- Work cooperatively with other City camp staff members.
- Perform related work as required.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Graduation from an accredited High School
- 2 years of full-time or 4 seasons of experience involving recreation programs preferred.
- Work experience can be substituted with three (3) years or 72 credit hours from an accredited college or university with a declared major in recreation or a closely related field.
- Certified teachers and coaches will meet the minimum requirements
- Ability to pass an FDLE Level 2 Criminal Background Check and fingerprinting
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the basic philosophy of school-aged education, including individual and group behavior
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with school-aged children

Monday – Friday, 35 to 40 hours per week. Hours may vary between 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
