Summer Camp Instructor II -PT

Responsibilities

• Assists the Recreation Leader with the planning, implementation, and supervision of activities and events for the summer camp program.
• Supports daily camp operations, ensures camper safety, and helps create a positive, engaging, and supportive environment where campers can grow, learn, and explore.
• Serves as a positive role model while working collaboratively with other City camp staff.
• Oversee daily camper check-in and check-out procedures.
• Oversee camper participation in organized games and activities.
• Encourage proper skill development and promote safety at all times.
• Provide general oversight and supervision of campers.
• Plan and implement indoor and outdoor activities, including but not limited to:
• Weekly themes
• Arts and crafts
• Character-building activities
• Social skills development
• Health and wellness activities
• Field trips
• Service-learning projects
• Maintain a safe and protected environment for all campers.
• Demonstrate experience, maturity, enthusiasm, a love for children, and a strong desire to be a positive role model.
• Work cooperatively with other City camp staff members.
• Perform related work as required.

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Graduation from an accredited High School

• 2 years of full-time or 4 seasons of experience involving recreation programs preferred.
• Work experience can be substituted with three (3) years or 72 credit hours from an accredited college or university with a declared major in recreation or a closely related field.
• Certified teachers and coaches will meet the minimum requirements

• Ability to pass an FDLE Level 2 Criminal Background Check and fingerprinting

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the basic philosophy of school-aged education, including individual and group behavior
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with school-aged children

Monday – Friday, 35 to 40 hours per week. Hours may vary between 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
