Summer Camp Teacher -PT

Overview

Plans, organizes, and leads a wide range of activities for the summer camp program. Applies professional and technical knowledge of school-aged children to effectively lead, supervise, and direct engaging, developmentally appropriate, and safe summer camp activities. Works cooperatively with other staff members to support overall camp operations.

• Plan, organize, and lead a variety of summer camp activities.
• Apply professional and technical knowledge related to school-aged children to effectively lead and direct camp programming.
• Oversee camper participation in organized games and activities.
• Encourage proper skill development and promote safety at all times.
• Provide general supervision and oversight of campers.
• Plan and implement indoor and outdoor activities, including but not limited to:
  • Weekly themes
  • Arts and crafts
  • Character-building activities
  • Social skills development
  • Health and wellness activities
  • Field trips
  • Service-learning projects
  • Supervise summer camp activities and collaborate cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Perform related work as required.

• Teaching Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a closely related field

• Two (2) years of experience working or volunteering with school-aged children in a recreational setting

• Ability to pass an FDLE Level 2 Criminal Background Check and fingerprinting

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the basic philosophy of school-aged education, including individual and group behavior
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with school-aged children

Work Days/

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 35 to 40 hours per week. Hours may vary between 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
