Summer Camp Instructor -PT

Overview

Monitors and actively participates in a wide variety of recreation activities for summer camp programs. Supports daily camp operations by supervising campers, facilitating engaging activities, and maintaining a safe, positive, and structured environment where campers can grow, learn, and explore. Serves as a positive role model while upholding City camp standards.

• Oversee camper participation in organized games and activities.
• Encourage proper skill development and promote safety at all times.
• Ensure effective daily camper check-in and check-out procedures.
• Provide general oversight and supervision of campers.
• Plan and implement indoor and outdoor activities, including but not limited to:
• Weekly themes
• Arts and crafts
• Character-building activities
• Social skills development
• Health and wellness activities
• Field trips
• Service-learning projects
• Maintain a safe and protected environment for all campers.
• Demonstrate experience, maturity, enthusiasm, a love for children, and a strong desire to be a positive role model.
• Perform related work as required.

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Graduation from an accredited High School
• 1 year of full-time or 2 seasons of experience involving recreation programs preferred.
• Work experience can be substituted with three (3) years or 72 credit hours from an accredited college or university with a declared major in recreation or a closely related field.
• Certified teachers and coaches will meet the minimum requirements
• Ability to pass an FDLE Level 2 Criminal Background Check and fingerprinting

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the basic philosophy of school-aged education, including individual and group behavior
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with school-aged children

• Submit a thoroughly completed application for employment. Apply as soon as possible, as selections may be made well before the program begins.
• Must be able to attend a program orientation prior to the start of the program.
