Job Summary

The Lead Monitor II will arrange, coordinate, supervise, mentor, and oversee the Monitor’s efforts to provide safety for program clients, visitors and employees, and to secure the premises and program assets. The role is performed in a shelter or other residential setting with over 100 clients and involves leading and training Monitors. Driving ability is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assign shifts and schedule Monitors to ensure 24/7 coverage.
  • Train Monitors on program operations, safety and security procedures.
  • Monitor shelter entrance, screen bags and persons, and patrol premises to guard against theft and maintain security.
  • Patrol the facility to detect and report signs of intrusion, unsafe conditions or defective equipment.
  • Ensure safe operations by observing spills, unsafe working conditions and defective equipment, and by maintaining knowledge of fire exits.
  • Conduct client room checks, maintain records of rule compliance, and report to clinical/case management staff.
  • Act as a role model by putting participants’ needs first and practicing expected professionalism.
  • Support participants by answering telephones, greeting visitors, maintaining office housekeeping, and assisting staff during the provision of services.
  • Transport participants to and from locations in a licensed vehicle, assist with mobility devices, maintain safety records, and keep the vehicle in good operating condition.
  • Complete written incident reports and activity logs for daily activities and irregularities such as theft, equipment damage, or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Input required data into computer systems and logs.
  • Perform other duties that may arise to support program goals.
Qualifications
  • Must pass fingerprint clearance, background check, and verify education and employment.
  • One year of proven college coursework or completion of Careers for a Cause (C4C) or other homeless training course with a certificate can substitute for experience.
  • 1 year of related experience in a mental health or substance abuse treatment setting or a group residential program.
  • One year in the general security field or social services/human services customer service experience.
  • Current California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in a group residential setting or serving the homeless is preferred.
  • Database familiarity.
  • Clean driving record to be insurable by VOALA insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
