In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location.
Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Donor Stewardship and Engagement Director will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive stewardship and donor relations program that strengthens connections with donors, enhances recognition practices, and supports Western
U’s philanthropic goals. This role is strategic, highly collaborative, and focused on creating meaningful donor experiences that foster long-term engagement and investment across all gift levels.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Principles and best practices of donor stewardship and philanthropic relationship management.
- High-touch donor service models and personalized engagement strategies for principal gift-level donors.
- Recognition programs and donor acknowledgment protocols in higher education or nonprofit settings.
- CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce, including donor data management and reporting.
- Institutional advancement operations and the role of donor experience in long-term fundraising success.
- Event coordination and protocol for VIP donor visits, exclusive experiences, and leadership interactions.
- Confidentiality standards and ethical considerations in donor relations.
Skills:
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential donor information.
- Proficiency in CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce.
Ability to:
- Represent Western
U with integrity, professionalism, and credibility. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality service under pressure.
- Collaborate with various departments, including fundraising, development, and stakeholder engagement, to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Experience: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum 4 years of experience in donor relations or stewardship, preferably in higher education or nonprofit sectors.
