In this role you’ll sit at the crossroads of innovation, safety, and reliability, influencing how systems are designed in support of SCE’s Pathway 2045, Wildfire Mitigation Plan, and Encore initiatives. Your work impacts the safety and resilience of entire communities and industries. By setting and upholding rigorous standards, you help build a smarter, more secure grid.
Responsibilities- Oversee engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross‑functional knowledge transfer of related work groups.
- Lead the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate and lead with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration, and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies.
- Assist in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations.
- Provide support for new equipment installation and startup, then lead the hand‑over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases.
- Lead junior engineers in investigating threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings.
- Gather and correlate basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems.
- Facilitate training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Ensure the protection of all physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and properly manage private customer data and highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical/math field.
- Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
- Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Working knowledge of developing distribution, subtransmission, and/or transmission protection settings.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Experience with advanced protection schemes such as Open Phase Detection, High Impedance Fault Detection, and Process Bus (IEC 61850) Applications.
- Experience in developing and/or maintaining Utility Design and Construction Standards.
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in the state of California unless otherwise noted.

- The primary work location is Pomona, California, but the successful candidate may also be asked to work extended time at an alternate work location.
- Position may require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position. Prior to being hired, the applicant must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation and complete specified training before gaining un‑escorted access to assigned work location.
