Overview
Performance Engineered Products (PEP) is a California-based custom injection molding and contract manufacturing company serving aerospace, automotive, medical, defense, and industrial OEM customers. We operate 33+ molding machines (55–800+ ton range), in-house tooling, CNC machining, and advanced quality systems. We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Quality Engineer to strengthen our quality systems and support high-performance manufacturing operations.
Position SummaryThe Quality Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and improving quality systems across injection molding production — from First Article Inspection (FAI) to PPAP submission, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
- Prepare and submit PPAP packages (Level 3 minimum).
- Create and update inspection plans and work instructions.
- Manage customer-specific quality requirements.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D).
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Interface with customers regarding quality issues.
- Reduce scrap and internal defects.
- Support new mold trials and validation.
- Approve first shots and process validation runs.
- Monitor SPC data and Cpk performance.
- Implement gauge R&R studies.
- Work closely with Process Technicians and Production Leads.
- Prepare for customer audits.
- Assist in supplier quality evaluations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3–7 years experience in Injection Molding Quality Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of:
Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, CMM, Keyence. - Ability to read 2D & 3D CAD drawings.
- Experience in aerospace or automotive Tier 1.
- Knowledge of IQMS or ERP systems.
- Familiar with Ultem, Nylon, PC, TPO, engineering plastics.
