Preschool Site Supervisor

FLSA Status: EXEMPT

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Program Director and Administrator, the Center Site Director is responsible for the comprehensive management, development, administration, and supervision of a Child Development Center. This role ensures the center operates in full compliance with Title V, Title XXII, and all agency policies. The Director leads programmatic excellence, staff development, and curriculum implementation for Early Childhood programs serving children from birth through age 5, integrating both Montessori and Early Childhood Education principles and practices.

This position plays a pivotal role in the continuous improvement and expansion of the agency’s preschool program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Center Leadership & Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Program Site, maintaining a harmonious and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, including CA State licensing requirements (Title XXII) and California Department of Education regulations (Title V).
  • License facilities and ensure continuous conformity to licensing requirements; respond to licensing reports.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility for the ECE and School Age program budget and grant deliverables, including preparing, monitoring, and filing expenses for material and supply purchases.
  • Enforce health and safety policies for children and staff; lead program crisis response, plan emergency drills, and prevent/monitor/report accidents.
  • Manage organizational and administrative responsibilities for the Program Site, including office and classroom coverage.
  • Coordinate and manage student recruitment, enrollment, and retention to operate at maximum efficiency.
  • Initiate marketing efforts in collaboration with the Program Coordinator and Admin staff to promote childcare openings.
  • Participate in Management and Program Quality Team activities.

II. Program & Curriculum Management

  • Supervise, implement, and evaluate the curriculum for ages birth through 5, ensuring a thorough understanding and application of both Child Development and Montessori Methods.
  • Develop, implement, and manage annual operating budget based on public and private revenue, adhering to financial budget goals.
  • Create and achieve clear, ambitious goals for student growth, development, and achievement.
  • Facilitate and manage grade-level curriculum development, ensuring alignment with California Preschool Learning Foundations, Curriculum Framework, and Common Core Standards for Kindergarten.
  • Oversee Response to Intervention and Special Education Processes, ensuring educational needs of English language learners and special needs students are met.
  • Oversee administration of multiple forms of assessments to measure and improve teaching and learning; use data to inform decisions.
  • Provide in-service training to teachers, parents, and the community on topics related to school readiness and early learning.
  • Maintain a warm, accepting, and developmentally-appropriate environment that promotes holistic child and family development.
  • Ensure individualized, personalized, responsive care is provided.
  • Set and maintain appropriate non-punitive standards for children's discipline and behavior.
  • Assist staff in resolving conflicts between children and communicating with families.

III. Staff Leadership & Development

  • Train, supervise, observe, and evaluate the performance of all assigned early childhood staff.
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring and termination of early childhood staff.
  • Conduct annual staff performance reviews and implement performance management practices to ensure high staff performance.
  • Manage program staff, including oversight to staff scheduling, conducting regular staff meetings, meeting individually with staff, and facilitating staff development trainings.
  • Manage the process of recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training new program staff.
