Position Summary

Facilitates UC’s success and growth in academic and people skills through implementing ORR approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress, activities, outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to ORR and management regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with age level goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experience to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including student with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current development in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings or by conducting research.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, and achievements.
  • Selects any requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages subordinate employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Directly supervises employees in the Department, coaches, mentors staff, provides guidance to their work and learning, and administers corrective/disciplinary action in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in education or related major, teaching certificate, or equivalent.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Language Ability – Read, analyze, and interpret business, professional, technical, or governmental documents; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Mathematical Ability – Comprehend and apply advanced calculus, algebra, and advanced statistical theory; work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs.
  • Reasoning Ability – Apply logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; deal with nonverbal symbolism and abstract/ concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills – Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and use of standard office equipment.
Work Environment

Noise level is usually moderate. The work environment includes regular sitting, handling, and occasional standing and walking. Employees may be required to lift up to 10 pounds. Vision requires close focus.

Physical Demands

Regular sitting, frequent use of hands, occasional standing and walking, occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, and vision for close tasks.
