Summary: To assist in the manufacture of canned food products. Tasks vary from product to product. Handle food and equipment safely and follow team leader and supervisor’s instructions. The position rotates through several workstations requiring the worker to perform the various tasks at each station.

Responsibilities
  • Perform the tasks on the packaging line as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Line Lead.
  • Work and maintain appropriate performance and quality standards at all positions or work stations.
  • Comply with the rules and regulations in Amy s Kitchen Inc. employee handbook, safety manual and GMP booklet.
  • Take proper precautions and use all equipment and tools safely.
  • Notify Line Lead or Supervisor of safety, mechanical or quality problems immediately.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Overtime may be required during peak season or based on company needs.
  • Prepare pocket filler ingredients and record all required tasks on batch sheet or other document.
  • Record usage of all IQF and WIP ingredients, including the time they were used. Issue product to each batch using handheld scanner. Accurately weigh and prepare returns to stock.
  • Hydrate beans according to cold or hot soak requirements. Track soaking time to ensure beans are used at the correct hydration.
  • Understand the quality attributes of food ingredients and packaging requirements.
  • Sweep
  • Change coders (put old code away neatly)
  • Remove leftover materials to storage areas
  • Stage materials for next product to be packaged
  • Erect cases

Experience: No prior experience required

Skills:

  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to use calculator.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
