Property Adjuster Trainee – Finance

Responsibilities
  • Under direct supervision, investigate losses, negotiate settlements, and maintain adequate production levels.
  • Examine claims forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to determine coverages.
  • Shadow an adjuster, obtain official reports, inspect physical damage, and compare claim information with evidence.
  • Set loss reserves and prepare reports summarizing required information for client, local, state, and federal government.
  • Determine liability, issue settlement checks, file regulatory documents, dispose salvage, and pursue subrogation when appropriate.
  • Control claims costs, maintain expected caseload, and keep professional knowledge through continuing education.
  • Review and approve reports on losses exceeding $10,000, create day‑to‑day agenda with manager assistance, conduct roof inspections as needed, and uphold the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
  • Participate in special projects or perform duties in other areas as requested.
Qualifications
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of Crawford and Company basic property class and ongoing education required for advancement.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and mathematical ability, and solid time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Valid driver’s license and completion of continued education requirements outlined by Crawford Educational Services.
  • Variable schedule including on‑call; may require work beyond normal business hours and travel outside normal hours.
