- Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's tertiary care and Level II Trauma Center, housing the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue.
Responsibilities
- Promotes professionalism and interacts with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment.
- Displays technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures.
- Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
- Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to the appropriate care provider.
- Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Attains required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.
- Exhibits problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
- Participates in the training/mentoring of new employees, students, or interns, including lectures and bench techniques.
- Able to prioritize and organize workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
- Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, and performs proper, prompt specimen transport.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
- Engages in self-evaluation of practice and takes action to improve knowledge and skills.
- Promotes consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conducts improvement.
- Retains accountability for the quality of care given to the patient.
- Promotes service excellence and growth of the laboratory.
Job Requirements:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
- Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred
Job Requirements:
- ASCP or equivalent preferred. Certification within a specific area, i.e., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP), qualifies.
- Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
