Idaho State University’s Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for two 9-month, full time, Visiting Assistant Professors in Anatomy and Physiology, preferably system level (e.g., cardiovascular, renal, gastrointestinal) to join our faculty team beginning August, 2026. The assistant professors will teach anatomy and physiology and make other contributions to the biology curriculum based on their area of expertise. Coordination of labs, student advising, and other duties will be part of the assigned teaching load.
A demonstrated ability to engage undergraduate students in research is strongly preferred. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment, interest in active and collaborative learning, and enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment are all expected features of successful candidates. Ideal candidates will have a focus on student success and foster an engaging learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds with a broad range of educational goals.
This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses that contribute to the Anatomy and Physiology curriculum of the department.
- Provide opportunities to engage students in authentic research.
- Conduct service in support of the department, college, institution, and profession.
- Contribute to community outreach and student recruiting activities in support of the department.
- Ability to collaborate and complement existing faculty expertise in the department.
- A doctorate in a field relevant to the position.
- Expertise in anatomy and physiology and relevant modern experimental tools.
- Experience working with and mentoring students.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
- Postdoctoral research experience in a field relevant to physiology.
- Experience working within a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated ability to involve and mentor students in research.
- College-level teaching expertise in anatomy and physiology and other relevant fields.
