Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Social Work beginning August 2026. The department seeks applicants who can teach core and elective courses within the MSW curriculum, with emphasis on rural social work and mental health. The position includes a 3/3 teaching load across in-class, broadcast (synchronous online), and online (asynchronous) formats. The successful candidate will grow and maintain an active research program, publish in scholarly journals, submit grant proposals, and fulfill service roles within the department, college, university, and community.

The appointment will be based at Idaho State University’s Pocatello campus.

• Teach core and elective social work classes.
• Pursue ongoing scholarly activity, including publishing in peer-reviewed journals and submitting grant proposals.
• Provide service to the department, college, university, and community.

• MSW from a CSWE-accredited program and a Ph.D. in a related social science field (ABD applicants considered; must complete Ph.D. by June 30, 2026).
• Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Evidence of potential excellence in teaching in a variety of formats, including synchronous and asynchronous online classes.

• Ability to teach graduate-level classes on research methods and related topics.
• Two years of post-MSW direct social work practice experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Research focused on rural social work and mental health.

Salary will be between $66,000 and $73,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
