Geologist / Logging Engineer Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth

Inside IR35 Long term Contract
Full time on site 10 hour days

Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Geologist / Logging Engineer to join a major long term redevelopment programme at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK s largest and most secure infrastructure projects, offering continuity of work, strong site teams, and daily challenges across complex geotechnical operations.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting geotechnical operations on site through high quality core logging, geological interpretation, and reporting. This role requires a hands on individual confident working within a fast paced, heavily regulated environment.

Key duties include:

  • Geological logging of core samples to a high standard
  • Accurate documentation and reporting of geotechnical data
  • Supporting drilling and site investigation teams where required
  • Ensuring all work complies with site safety, quality, and security procedures
  • Liaising with engineers, supervisors, and wider project teams to maintain smooth workflow
Requirements
  • Degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline
  • Experience in core logging and geological data recording
  • CSCS card required
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a site based team
  • Ability to commit to full time on site working patterns
Right to Work & Security Requirements

Due to the high security nature of this project, you must meet strict onboarding and nationality requirements, including:

  • British National, NATO National, Australian or New Zealand National only
  • No dual nationality outside of the above

Onboarding typically takes 4 6 weeks, and all work is Inside IR35.

Pay & Benefits
  • Day rate Inside IR35
  • £50 lodge assistance per worked day if not local to Plymouth
  • Long term rolling contract
