Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Amica Care, food is about far more than nutrition. It's about comfort, dignity, choice, and joy.

We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Chef to support our Head Chef in delivering nutritious, well-balanced meals that truly enhance daily life for our residents.

About the role

You’ll play a key role in preparing and serving meals that meet individual dietary, cultural and medical needs, while helping create a warm, welcoming dining experience. Working closely with care and nursing colleagues, you’ll adapt meals day-to-day to support residents’ wellbeing, independence and enjoyment. This is a part-time position, with alternate weekend working required.

What you'll be doing
  • Preparing and serving meals in line with planned menus and individual dietary requirements
  • Supporting residents with modified textures, allergies and specialist diets
  • Assisting with menu planning, including seasonal and themed meals, and listening to resident preferences
  • Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness (HACCP/COSHH)
  • Keeping accurate food safety, temperature and dietary records
  • Supporting stock control, deliveries and kitchen organisation
  • Helping supervise kitchen assistants and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Catering for special occasions such as birthdays and celebrations.
About you

You’ll be someone who:

  • Is kind, patient and genuinely cares about older people and those with disabilities and dementia
  • Takes pride in preparing food that looks good, tastes good and feels right
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team
  • Stays calm and organised in a busy kitchen environment
  • Communicates well and values collaboration.
What you'll bring

Essential

  • Catering qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or above)
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above)
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally in a care or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of special diets, texture modification and allergens.

Desirable

  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • First Aid knowledge
  • Experience supporting or supervising others.
Why Amica Care?

Because we put people before process. Our values are lived every day, in how we care for residents, support one another, and take pride in creating a place that feels like home.

If you believe food should be nourishing in every sense of the word, we'd love to hear from you.
