We are looking for a Nurse to join our team based in the CQC rated Good hospital in picturesque Plymouth. You will be part of a close knit collaborative team who pride themselves in providing the highest standard of care to our patients and their families. Our inpatients team is comprised of experienced nurses and healthcare assistants supported by our welcoming Ward Manager.
As well as undertaking basic ward duties you will oversee the new patient admissions, ensuring key documentation is completed and introducing them to the care team looking after them. All of our work is planned so you will be able to plan your week with ease knowing your work schedule won’t change.
You will liaise with the wider Practice Plus Group medical team to ensure the patient’s treatment is carried out whilst maintaining the principles of patient confidentiality.
Please be aware that this is a shift position covering days (07:30-20:00) and nights(19:30-08:00) a typical monthly shift rota is as follows:
- Weeks 1-3: consists of 3 x 12 hours shifts
- Week 4: consists of 4 x 12 hour shifts.
As a Registered Nurse on our 30-bed inpatient ward, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients through their surgical journey— from pre-admission to discharge. The ward primarily cares for elective orthopaedic patients, with occasional admissions for general surgery and ophthalmology.
ResponsibilitiesYou’ll be part of a supportive and expert multidisciplinary team, led by our Ward Manager, Kirsten. Your responsibilities will include:
- To deliver a high standard of patient care supported by evidence based practice.
- To ensure that nursing is practised within the constraints of and guided by:
- All relevant Department of Health Legislation
- Health and Social care act 2012
- NMC Code of professional conduct.
- Care Quality Commission standards
- NICE guidelines
- Group policies and procedures.
- Unit specific policies and procedures
- NMC Registered Nurse Part 1
- Immediate Life support (ILS)
- Evidence of basic qualification in general nursing
- Orthopaedic qualification will be an advantage
- Recent post registration experience
- Experience in an Orthopaedic Ward will be an advantage.
- Ability to maintain and enhance effective working relationships
- Ability to plan, allocate and evaluate own work and develop self to enhance performance
- Ability to plan the work of a team
- Ability to teach/train nursing staff
- Ability to monitor and control resources
- Excellent time management skills
- Able to meet the needs of the patients
- Is familiar with the company Safety and Infection control policy and procedures.
- Ability to be flexible with regard to working hours
