Grade 1 Fitter

. We are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Wagon maintenance shop at Stoke.

• Fault finding, rectification work, damage repairs, modification and related tasks.
• Ensure stock levels are maintained to required standards and stock is stored correctly.
• Order and reorder stock as required.
• Carry out damage reports / overload inspections on behalf of the customer and provide all required documentation, including photographs.
• Submit quotes and final costs for third‑party work.
• Complete all relevant documentation for work performed on any rolling stock vehicle, including completing and sending the Axiom proforma work order form V2 to the Field Maintenance Assistant.
• Correctly file and store all rolling stock documentation.
• Communicate stoppages and keep the Field Maintenance Coordinator up to date on the progress of rolling stock via telephone.

• A mechanical mindset with experience using air and hand tools.
• Experience in fabrication, grinding, and brake testing is an advantage.
• Qualifications within an engineering discipline are advantageous.
• Rail industry experience is also advantageous.
• A proactive approach to work with good organisational skills.

• Salary of £28,842.00 per year (36‑hour contract, depending on experience).
