Job Summary
As a member of the team you will be expected to work in a confident and professional manner; the successful applicant will provide exemplary planned care for patients within the Cath Lab and external cardiology areas. The role requires collaborative work with multi-disciplinary teams that access and operate in the Cath Lab environment. The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly with out-of-hours on-call support.
We are open Mon-Fri 8:30-6:30 with an expectation to work 4 shifts over 5 days and an on-call out of hours commitment.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who have recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
Main duties of the job- Provides high quality care to patients and their families during the perioperative period; reports and documents all relevant patient needs, and communicates changes to other health professionals in the multi-disciplinary team.
- Acts as Practitioner in charge, in the absence of the Team Leader, ensuring efficient allocation of staff and resources.
- Demonstrates a commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence; plays an active role in introducing this evidence to improve patient-centred care.
- Engages with patients and their carers, explaining procedures and treatments to gain cooperation and reduce apprehension.
- Assists with projects to develop and enhance patient care; participates in evaluation of patient outcomes, including audit, risk management and infection control.
- Assists in other clinical areas and specialty theatres if required by clinical situation and staffing levels.
- Attends relevant meetings and delivers feedback.
- Develops and achieves objectives identified through continuing appraisal of the job role; develops appraisal skills and carries out appraisals and personal development plans for non-registered practitioners in line with Agenda for Change and the knowledge skills framework.

Person SpecificationEssential
- RN/ODP/Paramedic training completed
- Demonstrable experience of working within a large clinical setting
- Proven knowledge
Desirable
- Basic computer skills (ECDL)
- Relevant theatre based course e.g.: HEA 362
- Demonstrable experience of perioperative care
- Completed a preceptorship programme
