Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dual role to support our Pharmacist Team to co-ordinate their workload, in partnership with another Pharmacist Team co-ordinator, and as a (Trainee) Dispenser based at our Wotter Branch dispensary. The Dispensary role includes preparing and dispensing prescriptions and miscellaneous OTC medicines/appliances, assisting with stock control, stock ordering and re-stocking, and providing patient advice within the scope of capability.
Training will be offered for the right candidate. Lone working may be required.
- Pharmacist Team Co-ordinator: support managing the workload of the Pharmacist Team (Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians) including booking patient appointments, rota management, clinic organisation, and supporting clinical reports and audits; monitor and adapt to varying demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Dispenser (Trainee): undertake training to complete an NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing; prepare and dispense prescriptions and OTC medicines/appliances; assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking; provide advice to patients on medications and lifestyle within capability; work independently following Group processes and lone working policy.
- Stock and administration: maintain stock control, conduct stock takes, ensure items are stocked to appropriate levels; contribute to practice-wide stock management.
- Team collaboration: work with Practice & Pharmacy Team to foster collaborative working relationships and support delivery of Enhanced Health within the PCN.
- Other duties: undertake duties appropriate to the grading of the post; flexible hours as required.
The role is 16 hours per week across 3 days:
Monday and Tuesday as Pharmacist Team Co-ordinator 8:30am–1:45pm at Plympton Health Centre, and Thursday as (Trainee) Dispenser 8:00am–3:00pm at Wotter Medical Practice. Permanent, part-time role.
Pay rates:
Pharmacist Team Co-ordinator (9.5 hours p.w) £12.48;
Trainee Dispenser (6.5 hours) £13.42;
Qualified Dispenser (6.5 hours) £14.63. Contracted hours: 1 x 16 hr pw (9.5 hours + 6.5 hours). Permanent.
- Strong administration skills; high level of organisation and time management.
- Experience in GP practice or equivalent; good working knowledge of Systm One or equivalent; strong computer skills including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work without direct supervision and determine workload priorities.
- Dispensing qualification to NVQ2 (or willing to train to achieve this); training provided and fully funded for external components.
- Essential: effective communication, interpersonal skills; IT literacy; ability to deal with sensitive issues; ability to follow practice protocols in emergencies; team working; flexibility; problem solving; ability to prioritise workload.
- Desirable: experience with Systm One; ability to maintain appointments system and make changes when appropriate.
- Able to travel between sites as required; understanding of organisation values.
- Desirable:
Full driving licence.
- Essential: customer service experience; strong administration; confidentiality and data protection awareness; organised time management; attention to detail; completing audits; stock handling and controls; ability to guide patients on administration of medication; able to work with limited supervision; experience with databases and reporting.
- Desirable: experience in dispensary/pharmacy; knowledge of System One; stock monitoring and reordering; understanding of prescription claim processes.
