Registered Nurse IV Therapy - Homecare - Band 6
Our Clinical Homecare Nursing team really love what they do! Working in Partnership with our NHS colleagues to provide individualised quality nursing care to patients requiring Parenteral Nutrition and other IV therapies in their home.

Working with trusts and patients in Plymouth and the surrounding areas.
Working hours
:
Monday to Sunday, 40 hours over 5 days per week on a rolling rota. We work split shifts due to disconnecting the patients in the morning and connecting them in the evening. Therefore, our nurses work 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening with a break in the middle.

- To administer prescribed IV therapies and associated care and support to patients who are unable to be trained to independence.
- Provide training, education and support to patients/carers with regards to the equipment and infusion devices required for infusion/administration of therapies to independence.
- Participate on the on-call rota, make autonomous decisions to resolve out of hours queries and escalate to the Senior on-call if required.
- Work with the Practice Development Nurse and Regional Lead Nurse in discharge management.
Experience
Required:
- Intensive Care / High dependency / General surgery/nursing care experience at a level equal to top of Band 5
- Current clinical experience minimum of last 2 years
- Competent in the management and delivery of PN and other IV Therapies
- Competent in the care and management of CVADs
- Blood samples from CVADs
What you'll need to succeed:
- A Registered General Nurse with current NMC qualifications
- Mentoring/Teaching Certificate or equivalent (or attain within 12 months)
- Excellent communication skills, time management skills and the ability to work well against strict timescales
- The ability to make correct clinical decisions in a clinical emergency situation
- Flexibility to travel to support Homecare patients and/or careers is essential

Job responsibilities- Provide individualised quality patient care to all Trans Care patients in their home setting or alternative, underpinned by current local and national guidelines and policies.
- Demonstrate recognizing and managing a clinical emergency effectively in a lone working environment.
- Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children take appropriate and timely action in accordance of National and Local policies & procedures.
- To ensure reports from patients and customers relating to product quality complaints or adverse drug reactions are documented and the essential minimum information is collected and forwarded to the Regulatory Affairs Department the same day they are received.
- Makes clinical judgements based on current patients presentation considering past medical history, and report any changes in the patients condition to the relevant Practice Development Nurse or Regional Lead Nurse or directly to the Trust.
