Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations and support the delivery of accurate financial reporting. The role will involve managing core finance processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and providing timely financial information to support business decision-making. We require a lot of collaboration between members of the team so a candidate familiar with mentoring others is desirable.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in line with accounting standards and company policies.
- Manage purchase and sales ledger activities, including invoice processing, credit notes, and supplier payments.
- Perform regular bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals and prepayments.
- Support the production of management accounts and financial reports.
- Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting and budgeting activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries and provide financial support.
- Assist with year-end processes, including audit preparation and statutory reporting.
- Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements within the finance function.
- Proven experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and month-end processes.
- Experience with accounting or ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- AAT level 4 or equivalent experience
- Experience producing management accounts.
- Exposure to multi-entity or project-based environments.
