Senior Accounts Assistant

Location:

Plymouth

Salary: £36,000 - £42,000 (FTE)

Hours:

25 per week (Monday to Wednesday + half-day Thursday ideally)

Are you an experienced accounts professional looking for a part-time role with real responsibility and variety? Our client is seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join their finance team and play a key role in keeping the business’s financial operations running smoothly. From reconciling accounts and managing payroll to monitoring budgets and producing reports, every day brings new challenges and opportunities to develop your skills and make a difference.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records using Xero
  • Process supplier invoices, staff expenses, and weekly commission payments
  • Assist with payroll and staff salary processing
  • Reconcile accounts and support month-end reporting
  • Monitor budgets, analyse spend, and produce management information
  • Liaise with colleagues, clients, and external providers
  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations
About You
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar accounts role
  • Confident with Xero (essential) and Excel
  • Payroll experience is advantageous
  • AAT Level 3 or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organised, and proactive
  • Professional communicator, able to work independently and as part of a team
