Role Overview
The Management Accountant will be responsible for producing accurate and timely management information, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and partnering with operational and commercial teams to improve financial performance. This is a hands-on role suited to a commercially minded accountant who enjoys working closely with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month End
Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and variance analysis
Ensure timely and accurate month-end close, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
Support year-end processes and liaise with external auditors as required
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
Monitor performance against budget, providing clear commentary and insight
Analyse costs, margins, and operational performance to support decision-making
Business Partnering
Work closely with operational, manufacturing, and commercial teams to support financial understanding
Provide financial insight to support pricing, product mix, and investment decisions
Support managers with financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting
Controls & Process Improvement
Ensure strong financial controls and compliance with internal policies
Support continuous improvement of finance processes and reporting
Assist with system enhancements and data integrity initiatives
Skills & Experience
Essential
Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
Proven experience in a Management Accountant or similar role
Strong understanding of management accounting principles
Experience preparing management accounts and variance analysis
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines
Desirable
Experience with in manufacturing, FMCG, or premium consumer brands
Exposure to stock, WIP, and standard costing environments
Experience with ERP systems
Strong communication skills and confidence working with non-finance stakeholders
