Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are seeking a Verification & Validation (IVVQ) Engineer to support a cutting‑edge maritime autonomy programme delivering next‑generation autonomous surface and sub‑surface capabilities. This role will sit at the heart of system integration, verification, validation and qualification activities across complex, safety‑critical maritime platforms. You will work closely with Systems, Software, Hardware and Integration teams to ensure autonomous capabilities are robust, compliant and operationally ready.
Due to the nature of platform integration, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing and sea trials, this role requires onsite presence five days per week.
- Plan, develop and execute Verification & Validation strategies across system and subsystem levels
- Own IVVQ activities from requirements verification through to qualification and acceptance
- Develop and maintain Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM)
- Produce and review test plans, procedures, specifications and reports
- Support system integration activities including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing
- Conduct functional, performance and interface testing across autonomous maritime systems
- Support harbour and sea trials, including fault investigation and root cause analysis
- Ensure compliance with defence, maritime and safety standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve integration issues
- Proven experience as a Verification & Validation Engineer, IVVQ Engineer or Integration & Test Engineer
- Experience working on complex systems within defence, aerospace, maritime or other safety‑critical environments
- Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle (V-model)
- Experience deriving test cases from system requirements
- Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS or equivalent)
- Experience supporting integration, qualification and acceptance activities
- Strong documentation and reporting capability
- Experience with autonomous systems (surface or sub‑surface)
- Exposure to maritime domain systems (navigation, comms, sensors, control systems)
- Knowledge of safety standards or mission‑critical systems
- Experience supporting trials (harbour/sea/field testing)
- Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain clearance)
