The role

As a Production Planner - Electrical
, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring our submarine projects stay on track and are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule. Working within our Submarines business, you’ll support the planning and execution of varied engineering work packages that directly contribute to national defence and the long‑term availability of Royal Navy submarine platforms.

Day-to-day, you’ll liaise with a wide range of teams across the site, gaining exposure to operations, engineering, project management and stakeholder engagement. Whether you’re analysing work specifications, enabling activities, or driving planning accuracy, your contribution will support major defence engineering programmes, offering outstanding opportunities for personal growth, technical development and long‑term career progression.

  • Analyse and interpret work specifications to ensure full understanding of customer requirements and project deliverables.
  • Link all elements of work to the Work Breakdown Structure, enabling activities and ensuring they are commercially processed and tracked.
  • Process emergent or additional work in line with project schedules, agreeing technical and contractual content to enable progression.
  • Manage enablement risks, support look‑ahead reviews and drive progressive close‑out to maintain project efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to resolve technical queries and ensure requirements are fully understood.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Production Planner - Electrical
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Awareness of Project Management tools and how they support project lifecycle delivery (desirable).
  • Experience using the Project Delivery Framework and Project Management principles (desirable).
  • Project planning and lifecycle experience (desirable).
  • Proficiency with Planning, Estimating, Production Systems and SAP (desirable).
Qualifications for the Production Planner - Electrical
  • Level 3 qualification in engineering, project management, construction management or a related field, or demonstrable experience operating at this level of responsibility.
  • APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) - Desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
