Senior SHE Advisor

Overview

This role operates within Costain's Group Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Department. The department ensures the company stays safe, healthy and environmentally responsible through the Group SHE Management System and Group SHE Plan, aiming to prevent injury, ill health and protect the environment while complying with legislation and regulations. The role supports Contract SHE functions, provides SHE solutions, and enables Contract/Operational Teams to implement the Group SHE Management System.

It also involves building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and providing an independent, objective view of SHE performance on the contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and influence Contract Leadership Team, Clients, and other stakeholders in compliance with the Group SHE Management System and Contract SHE performance.
• Assist and, where required, deliver training to enable the contract team to implement the Group SHE Management System effectively.
• Coach and support the Contract Operational and Supply Chain Contractors in delivering the Contract SHE requirements.
• Actively participate in the ongoing assessment of the Contracts Supply Chain Contractors as required.
• Support the delivery of the annual Contract and Group SHE Objectives.
• Engage with the Contract SHE Assurance program to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
• Support the investigation of unplanned events and close out of assurance findings, ensuring lessons are shared in line with the Group SHE Management System.
• Support timely reporting, analysis and use of SHE data to influence the Contract Leadership Team and help develop data-based improvement plans where required.

Essential

• Minimum 3 years of SHE-related experience.

Desirable

• Over 5 years of relevant SHE experience in a relevant industry.

• Tech. IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
• NEBOSH Oil and Gas or equivalent
• IEMA Associate Qualification (Course) or equivalent

Desirable

• Cert IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent
• NEBOSH Occupational Safety Diploma or NEBOSH Environmental Diploma or equivalent
