Duties as Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
Provide full-time support in a Year 1 classroom
Assist with small groups, interventions, and 1:1 support where required
Support early literacy, numeracy, phonics and wider learning tasks
Help maintain consistent behaviour expectations and positive routines
Contribute to SEND support where appropriate
Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and daily activities
Promote pupils’ social, emotional and personal development
Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare
Ideal Year 1 Teaching Assistant:
Experience supporting pupils in KS1, especially Year 1
SEND experience is beneficial
Calm, patient, and nurturing approach to young learners
Confident delivering small‑group and individual support
Good communication and teamwork skills
Able to follow teacher direction and use initiative appropriately
Reliable, proactive, and committed to supporting pupil progress
Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting pupil well‑being
