Learning Coach (SEMH) – Plymouth (Alternative Provision Outreach)
Are you an experienced Learning Coach who thrives in a fast‑paced, rewarding environment where every day is about making a real difference?
We’re recruiting for a Learning Coach to join a specialist alternative education provision in Plymouth
, supporting pupils with SEMH needs both on‑site and through outreach placements across the local community.
This role is ideal for someone confident working with young people who may be disengaged from mainstream education and need a calm, consistent adult to help rebuild routines, trust and progress.
The Role Includes:- Supporting students with SEMH, behaviour needs, anxiety and emotional regulation
- Working 1:1 and in small groups to promote engagement and attendance
- Delivering structured support both in provision and through outreach work
- Supporting positive behaviour strategies, boundaries and de‑escalation
- Helping young people develop confidence, resilience, and independence
- Transporting students as part of outreach responsibilities (
own vehicle required
)
This is a specialist alternative provision environment, supporting children and young people who have often experienced barriers to learning in mainstream education.
Students may have faced challenges such as:
- emotional and behavioural needs
- trauma, anxiety, and low self‑esteem
- disrupted education, exclusions or school avoidance
- difficulty managing routines, boundaries, or peer relationships
The setting offers a more personalised and nurturing approach, with smaller groups, consistent staffing, and a focus on re‑engagement, emotional development, and positive long‑term outcomes

Staff work closely as a team to provide structure, safety and stability — and celebrate progress in the small wins as well as the big ones.
What We’re Looking For:- ⭐ Proven experience supporting pupils with SEMH / behaviour needs
- ⭐ Calm, resilient and confident approach to working with challenging behaviour
- ⭐ Strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to set boundaries
- ⭐
Access to your own vehicle (driving is required for outreach) - ⭐
DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
