About This RoleUTC Plymouth is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join the voluntary Governors. Governors look to make a difference in the school community.
Governance at Reach South Academy TrustGovernance is central to our commitment to delivering high-quality education. Our framework ensures accountability, strategic oversight, and continuous improvement, supporting our mission to advance education for all.
Structure:
- Members – guardians of the Trust’s constitution
- Board of Trustees – responsible for strategic direction and oversight
- Board Committees – focus on finance, education standards, people, risk, and audit
- Executive Team – led by the CEO, managing day-to-day operations
- Local Governing Bodies (LGBs) – provide challenge and support to individual academies
- Act within the formal powers and rules as set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association
- Determine the educational character and mission of the School and exercise oversight of its activities
- Approve the quality improvement strategy for the institution
- Ensure effective and efficient use of resources, safeguarding assets, and maintaining solvency
- Act in the best interests of the School
- Be fully informed about the operation of the School
- Ensure decisions benefit the School, its students, staff, and other users, safeguarding public funds
- Act as individuals, not bound by mandates from other bodies
- Attend School events such as student awards presentations and open days to support the work of the School
Located in Plymouth’s historic Coastal Quarter, UTC Plymouth is a centre of excellence with a focus on creative thinking and a broad balanced curriculum. Rated 'Good' by OFSTED in February 2023, we drive improvement, equity, and social justice, removing barriers to success for all young people.
