Job Summary
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is undergoing significant investment and expansion, creating an opportunity to appoint 5 Trust Doctors (StR Lower) in Medicine. These 1-year posts will rotate through 3 × 4 month placements within the Medical Specialties (e.g. Acute Med Geriatrics, Thoracic medicine, Neurology, Stroke, Hepatology, Cardiology, Oncology, Haematology etc). The successful candidates will have the same opportunities as other trainees working on the Medical Rota and will aim to support development opportunities for those seeking to apply for Internal Medicine Training (IMT) Stage 1 next year.
The role anticipates working towards Part 1 Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and support to gain this qualification.

Job responsibilities
The post holders are expected to deliver unscheduled care to a high quality, within our Acute Medical Unit and our specialty medical wards. Ward-based care is provided by comprehensive medical specialties including a General Internal Medicine team that run the inpatient medical wards. The post holders will have at least Foundation level 2 competencies and NHS experience and will be expected to deliver care to the standard of an Internal Medicine Training (IMT) Stage 1 equivalent.
The roles are well supported, with on-site consultant cover from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. The post holders would be expected to participate in departmental teaching and Quality Improvement Projects / clinical audit. There is a weekly Medical Grand Round in the Post Graduate Centre providing an opportunity for interdepartmental and inter-generational learning.
