Consultant in Interventional Radiology
Applications are invited for two Interventional Radiologists to join a Tertiary Hospital Radiology department consisting of 50 WTE Consultant Radiologists delivering all aspects of diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology.
These are replacement posts and are required to meet current and growing demand for Interventional Radiology Services, to facilitate the expansion of the service including new interventional radiology, and to support the existing on-call service.
The post holder will be expected to deliver regular Vascular and non-Vascular IR sessions including elective and emergency CT guided intervention lists in a dedicated CT scanner adjacent to the Interventional radiology suites. The post holder will be involved in IR clinics, and time is allocated for IR case planning and IR ward rounds. Successful applicants would also be expected to contribute to the general diagnostic radiology service as well as partake in audit, teaching, research and MDT meetings.
The trust has an Interventional Radiology on call service for Vascular and Non-Vascular Intervention which is currently maintained by five interventional radiologists with internal locum cover. Successful candidates would be expected to join the on-call rota with a 1:7 frequency. Neuro intervention is delivered by a separate team.
Main duties of the jobThe posts are to assist and to share responsibility for provision of a comprehensive interventional radiology service in addition to continuing to diagnostic services. All radiology consultants are actively involved in teaching for the Peninsula Medical School and Peninsula Radiology Training Program. The successful applicant will share an office and secretarial support with consultant colleagues. A networked PC will be provided with this post and there will be office access to a PACS reporting workstation.
Development of competence with voice recognition software will be required. The post holder will be required to comply with all Trust Policies notably in relation to job planning, appraisal and leave taking in line with Departmental and Trust objectives. The programs shown are for illustrative purposes and could be subject to modification, in agreement with the post holder and the Clinical Director.
The post holder will be expected to share the on-call commitment equally with the existing Consultants. There are separate on-call rotas for General, Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology. The Service Line is delivering 7 day working and the job plan and timetable will reflect this ambition in common with existing consultants.
