Overview

Design, build, repair, calibrate and maintain test fixtures and equipment for Production and Engineering.

Job Summary

The Assembly Technician is responsible for the electronic troubleshooting, repairing, updating, testing, and packaging of returned customer and failed new production products. Actively participating in achieving company on-time RMA, work order, sales order completion, and product quality goals. Suggesting and implementing changes that improve quality, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. Serve as back up for new assembly throughout production and support Engineering as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot to the component level utilizing schematics and engineering documentation to correctly diagnose defective customer and new production PC boards, subassemblies, and finish good products.
  • Repair or replace defective components, retest, and recalibrate using current manual test procedures or semi-automated computer controlled test systems.
  • Replace/ solder surface mount components to IPC-A 610 standards.
  • Contact customers for detailed failure information and provide follow-up when necessary.
  • Complete all service call paperwork and collect data on failures for analysis and corrective action
  • Assist quality control and engineering on analysis and evaluation of component failures and provide supporting data and suggest corrective action.
  • Assist production, incoming inspection and final test with any problems or technical questions, which arise from building or testing products.
  • Write, verify and edit production and repair test procedures.
  • Design, build, repair, calibrate and maintain test fixtures and equipment for Production and Engineering.
  • Ensure a safe work environment through good house keeping and reporting unsafe conditions.
Experience
  • Associate's degree in Electronic Technology or equivalent plus one to two years electronic repair experience is required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting with use of equipment such as Oscilloscopes, meters is required
  • Ability to solder and rework/replace surface mount components to IPC-A 610 standards while using microscope also required.
  • Operating Systems - Knowledge and experience to log on navigate and perform basic functions.
  • Office Applications - Knowledge and experience to start and utilize basic functionality of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Network - Knowledge and experience to logon navigate and retrieve information from company servers and web site.
  • Email - Knowledge and experience to logon, navigate, and utilize basic MS Outlook functionality such as email and calendar.
  • Business System - Detailed knowledge and experience to logon, navigate, enter production data, correct data entry errors, and generate related reports.
