Position Overview
The Director of Education provides strategic and operational leadership for educational quality, curriculum implementation, and instructional excellence across all schools. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer (CAO), this role ensures consistent, high-quality learning experiences while supporting compliance with state licensing regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational academic goals.
The Director of Education partners closely with Regional Directors, School Directors and cross-functional teams to drive educator development, strengthen classroom practice, and scale best-in-class instructional systems across diverse markets.
Key Responsibilities- Academic & Instructional Leadership
Execute the organization’s academic vision in alignment with the Chief Academic Officer. - Curriculum & Program Oversight
Oversee fidelity of curriculum implementation across age groups and programs. - Coaching, Training & Professional Development
Design and deploy professional development for teachers and Directors. - Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure educational practices meet or exceed state licensing regulations across multiple states. - Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a thought partner to Regional Directors and Directors on instructional challenges and school improvement planning. - Performance Management & Scaling
Track academic KPIs tied to classroom quality, teacher effectiveness, and child outcomes.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in early childhood education leadership
- Deep knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and early learning standards
- Experience with instructional observation tools and coaching models
- Strong understanding of state licensing regulations across multiple states
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and influence leaders without direct authority
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Education or related field
- Experience working in a multi-state or rapidly growing organization
- Experience designing or leading professional development programs
- Familiarity with LMS platforms and data-driven instructional improvement

- Ability to travel regularly between schools across multiple states, including overnight travel as needed
- Ability to spend a significant portion of work time on-site in schools and classrooms, observing instruction, modeling best practices, coaching educators, and supporting school leadership teams.
The starting pay range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 a year and is applicable for candidates who will be working in the following location[s] Minnesota. This range is subject to adjustment for other geographic work locations. In addition to geographic location, Yellow Brick Road considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands, and other qualifying criteria to determine starting wages.
