Responsibilities
  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
  • Inform customers of bakery specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend bakery items to ensure customers get what they want.
  • Use equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, ovens, and other bakery tools according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates.
  • Use kitchen equipment (stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.) properly.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to inquiries with suggestions.
  • Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and logs are kept.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering product questions across the store.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate manager of needed repairs.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Report all safety risks, illegal activity, or theft.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Desire to learn food production and basic cooking techniques.
  • Effective communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Good basic math skills.
  • Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit once employed.
