Qualifications
:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in automotive braking (can be co-op experience or education)
  • 3D CAD specifically catia experience with 3d modeling
  • MS office proficient

Day to Day
:

Insight Global is looking for a Sr Mechanical Engineer in the Plymouth, Michigan area. The engineer will be working within development and improvements of friction formulations and brake pad designing including selection and testing of formulations, raw materials, components (back plates, noise shims, wear indicators), and full brake pad assembly. This role will also include responding to customer requests for designs or products, summarizing and reporting data, and prototype to production transfer.

Other Responsibilities Include
:

  • Develop and validate brake pad formulations and design technologies.
  • Define requirements and create test methods to meet customer and internal standards.
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams; manage testing schedules and reports.
  • Plan and execute component, assembly, and vehicle-level tests for compliance.
  • Analyze test data and prepare summaries.
  • Resolve performance and manufacturing issues through engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate on design and quality improvements.
  • Support design change processes, including CP, ECN, and RDDP coordination.
  • Conduct customer presentations, support trips, and attend meetings to provide technical expertise.
  • Assist with maintaining DFMEA, DVP&R, PVP&R, DWO, drawings, timing plans, and other program documents.
  • Support safety initiatives and perform 5S and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and engineering teams as needed.
  • Complete special projects or tasks assigned by management.
