Overview

Ivywood Classical Academy is a tuition-free public school that educates students using the virtues-based and rigorous classical education tradition. The classical curriculum emphasizes the humanities, sciences, and arts, and integrates Spanish and Latin language to promote depth in learning. Ivywood strives to produce students of high moral character who understand the world and what it means to be a contributing member of society.

Schedule:

March 9 – May 22. $1,000.00 Stipend

• Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
• Assesses player's skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops a detailed practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Maintains adequate practice attendance and performance records.
• C coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques and strategies of the sport.
• Observes and continually assess players, during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times during practices and competitions.
• Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met; and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
• Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
• Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of their student.
• Follows MHSAA, and school regulations governing the athletic program.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
• Participates in fundraising activities as needed.
• Carries out other duties assigned by the Academy Administrator.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Some experience as a coach or assistant coach at the middle or high school level.
• Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of the MHSAA rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
• Must possess reliable transportation.
