Overview
We’re partnering with a growing organization in the Plymouth, MI area to hire a Senior General Ledger Accountant
. This is a senior-level, hands-on role supporting a multi-entity environment, with ownership over key close processes, balance sheet accounting, and financial reporting support.
This position offers strong visibility to leadership, involvement in process improvements, and exposure to integration and growth-related projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & Month-End Close
- Own assigned month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments
- Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with proper supporting documentation
- Support accounting ownership for assigned entities, service lines, or markets
- Assist with entity onboarding, integration activities, and legacy account transitions
Compliance, Audit & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audit requests
- Support adoption of new accounting standards in coordination with internal teams and auditors
- Assist with compliance-related accounting activities (tax work papers, rebates, escheatment, entity reporting, renewals, etc.)
- Promote consistent adherence to internal controls and best practices
Intercompany, Reporting & Analysis
- Support execution and reconciliation of monthly intercompany transactions
- Assist with variance analysis, trend identification, and reporting preparation
- Provide financial data for contract reviews, business updates, and ad hoc requests
- Help ensure accurate entity-level and market-level financial results
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve accounting workflows
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and shared services teams across the organization
- Communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and system enhancements
Additional Support
- Cross-train and provide backup coverage across the GL team
- Learn and support implementation of new tools, systems, or software as needed
- Deliver strong internal customer service and support special projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA or Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of current GAAP standards
- Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, shortcuts, reconciliations)
- SAP Business One (B1) experience strongly preferred
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
- Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities independently
- Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Hybrid schedule: onsite at Plymouth, MI HQ 3–4 days per week after initial onboarding.
