Sign on Bonus: $3,000
Pay Range: $34 - $54.50 per hour (depending on license and experience)
Status: Full Time; 3 12hr shifts; 36/hours a week
Shift: Overnight

High Point recognizes, more now than ever, the need for a work life balance! Schedules can be developed off of 4, 8, or 12 hour shifts. Time off requests placed with more than 30 days are typically granted and within 30 days a scheduler app assists in trading or filling shifts. Shift trades are allowed even if it accrues overtime. High Point also understands the need to support and recognize staff diversity. In addition to our leave time package, we offer one floating holiday per quarter to allow staff the time off to observe and celebrate their cultures and beliefs!

Staff Nurse Requirements

  • TB Screening;
  • CPR Certification;
  • Certification in the HPAO approved de-escalation program;
  • Confidentiality training (42 CFR, Part 2 and 45 CFR Parts 160 & 164 HIPAA);
  • Therapeutic Boundaries Training;
  • Ability to care for diverse populations;
  • Incident Reporting Training;
  • All Hazards Training;
  • Infection Control Training;
  • Substance Use Disorder Training (including Nicotine Addiction);
  • Ability to lift 50lbs;
  • Computer Skills;
  • Ability to solve problems in a timely and therapeutic manner;
  • Knowledge of Substance Use Disorders, Dually Diagnosed (Substance/Mental Health Disorders), Psychiatric Diagnosis and Medical Co-morbidities.

Staff Nurse Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compliance with Federal Regulations regarding 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations;
  • Adherence to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals for Behavioral Health;
  • Adherence to DEA regulations and guidelines pertaining to controlled substances, including count, administration and documentation standards;
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and apply best nursing practices in accordance with policy when making decisions and problem solving to provide for best patient care and outcome;
  • Be familiar with best practice standards in line with ASAM criteria inclusive of detox protocols, MAT and/or pharmacology;
  • Documents patient information according to established alcohol/drug protocols as well as any psychiatric/medical conditions per DPH Regulations indicated;
  • Assist the patient in understanding the disease process through education and therapeutic relationship;
  • Understands medication uses, side effects and food-drug interactions;
  • Maintain therapeutic boundaries by setting limits and enforcing rules in a respectful manner;
  • Utilizes effective time management;
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team;
  • Triage patient issues for the attending Practitioner;
  • Responsible for HPAO continued education in the field of substance use disorders;
  • Attends supervision with assigned supervisor twice monthly and/or as needed based on status or concerns;
  • Attend mandatory meetings and trainings;
  • May be mandated to cover designated program/shifts based upon safe staffing needs;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Nurse Manager, Program Director, Site Director, and/or DON.

Inpatient Services Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform shift specific duties to ensure the unit is cleaned and properly stocked with necessary medical supplies;
  • Delegates and oversees the work of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (Recovery Specialists/RS) as appropriate;
  • Provide a comprehensive, concise shift report for all incoming nursing and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (RS) staff;
  • Complete Admission and Discharge Assessments and procedures;
  • Monitor and treat patients who have co-occurring medical/psychiatric illness;
  • Assess the physiological and behavioral health status of the patients each shift;
  • Conduct controlled substance count and syringe count (when applicable) at the change of every shift (with one on-coming and one off-going nurse) and sign the controlled substance register;
  • Monitor vital signs and assess withdrawal signs and symptoms per protocol;
  • Administer routine PRN medications according to the nursing standards of care;
