Specialist in Water Damage - Advanced

Professional with expertise in the drying and repair of residential, large commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings and their contents. Local, regional, and national resources of BELFOR, with competencies in electronics, machinery management, documents, and specialized drying. Determines large losses, dimensions, and appropriate drying systems (heat or desiccant). Knowledge of electrical demand for drying equipment and temporary energy needs. Proficient in plans, floor plans, and integration of HVAC systems to enhance drying.

Advanced specialists lead multiple teams and assume significant production responsibility. This position is Level 4, the highest in the progressive Water Damage route.

Responsibilities
  • Direct teams in the use of the right PPE for the job.
  • Review daily project requirements, document progress, and notify managers of progress and challenges.
  • Provide field documentation, photographic records, charts, and sketches for various TPA projects.
  • Use acquired skills to draw sketches, read plans, develop humidity content records, complete pyrometric records, and determine drying objectives.
  • Calculate load (content) of humidity in a building, compute cubic meters of affected areas, and request additional support for large water losses.
  • Determine electrical consumption of drying equipment, connection and operation of a 220/110 converter, and requirements of a temporary power source.
  • Perform daily inspections of vehicle safety and maintenance, keeping them clean and in perfect condition.
  • Maintain high attention to detail.
  • Comply with BELFOR standards to safeguard others' property.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific deadlines.
  • Travel and work at night and during weekends as periodically required.
  • Report accurately and timely the time worked, equipment, and consumables used.
  • Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and required security training courses.
Requirements
  • Supervise and self-perform Water Damage Basic and Intermediate tasks.
  • Perform all tasks related to managing large loss sites or specialized remediation requirements.
  • Create moisture maps using tools and knowledge provided.
  • Supervise multiple crews simultaneously on multiple projects.
  • Select appropriate disposal options and obtain release of liability for disposed items.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of IICRC S500 Water Damage Standard.
  • Working knowledge of IICRC S520 Mold Remediation Standard.
  • Current IICRC ASD designation.
  • Mastery of BELFOR Water Damage Book.
  • Proper use of appropriate meters and IR camera, understanding affected vs unaffected building materials and contents.
  • Understanding of air mover calculation, LGR dehumidification chart, electrical power spec, and electrical circuits.
  • Mastery in use of Hydro Sensor, Thermal Hygrometer, Nav Pro Moisture Meter or equivalent and recording of data.
  • Experience and proficiency in building environment, thermodynamics, psychrometry, "Burping" a building, containment of HVAC supply and/or return air (CAT 3/Mold).
  • Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR's vehicle policy.
  • Sense of urgency, professional demeanor, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
  • English language literacy and fluency.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting from 41 lbs+, assisted (up to 50% of the time).
  • Access and mobility in tight spaces.
  • Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to use mobile devices for data collection and time.
