Position: After School (3-6pm) Counselor

Job Description

Overview

Our childcare center seeks a School Age Group Leader at our Plymouth location. The before school program opens at 7am until school begins and the afternoon hours are 3pm-6pm. The Group Leader works under the School Age Site Coordinator supervising a safe, healthy, and constructive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with EEC regulations and Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care, Child Guidance, Health Care).
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum in accordance with regulations and YMCA policies.
  • Meet with the School Age Site Coordinator as directed.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly curriculum meetings.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified CPR/AED and First Aid.
  • Physical examination evidence within last 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift/move up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently, lift heavy equipment, and clean as needed; occasional early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills; occasional public speaking.
  • Understanding of Y-USA's three focus areas:
    Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
