A Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania based Utility Construction Company is in search of a self-directed and experienced Controller to oversee all financial, accounting activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for construction accounting, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who thrives in a busy work place, and is well-versed in working closely with senior management & corporate.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Participate in the development of the company’s strategic plans
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Ensure that monthly financial statements and WIP are prepared in a timely and accurate manner. Review the financial statements with the Division Vice President.
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company.
  • Attend "Review monthly cost reports with Project Managers. Offer analysis on monthly changes and identify any potential cost issues on each project. Assist with job close out process to make sure all billings are complete and accurate."
  • Compile and analyze financial reporting packages
  • Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures
  • Communicate financial metrics to senior management
  • Provide leadership and support to job costing, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
  • To facilitate cash flow management, the Controller is responsible for ensuring that billings are submitted in a timely and complete manner and in the proper form, as required by contract documents.
  • Track, in coordination with the Area Supervisor, supporting documents required for subcontractor payment (lien releases, insurance certificates, executed subcontract agreements); withhold payments until subcontractors are in compliance

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of controllership experience at a construction company
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of common software packages (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
