Field Project Manager

Overview

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven field Project Manager to join our culture. You will be responsible for installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. Work with management and the project team to ensure projects are completed within contractual scope, budget, and schedule. You are part of a dynamic team that supports growth as Convergint grows.

• Oversees overall site management of projects for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
• Works with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plan and implement job procedures.
• Supervises Project Specialists, Installers and subcontractors in the field; may mentor, coach, and develop colleagues; plan, assign and direct work.
• Recruits and hires Project Specialist and Installers; responsible for performance management of direct reports.
• Coordinates and supervises subcontractors, directing on-site activities and ensuring quality assurance standards.
• Assists in project coordination, recommends changes in scope, and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
• Identifies potential project risks, communicates with relevant parties, and helps develop strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from costs and deadlines.
• Ensures overall installation quality in accordance with national/local codes and company standards.
• Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services systems and equipment (security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation); serves as primary technical trainer and point of contact for customers to maximize satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; consistently strive to meet customer needs and wants.
• Strong supervision and installation experience related to building automation, fire alarm, and/or electronic security systems; able to adapt procedures to complex requirements.
• Strong field supervision and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-starter and able to work without supervision.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude; able to read blueprints/drawings and perform advanced math as required.
• Frequent site visits; minimal overnight travel; valid driver’s license.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

• Education:
  
  College degree, trade school or equivalent experience
• Minimum Experience:
  
  5-7 years relevant
• Relevant trade designation (e.g. Electrician) as applicable
• Preferred Experience (not required):
  Associate degree in Electronics; experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, or building automation
