Position OverviewThe primary responsibility of the Dietary Cook is to assist in all food functions as directed and in accordance with established food policies and procedures.
Essential Duties- Inspect special diet trays to ensure the correct diet is served to the resident.
- Complete administrative requirements such as necessary forms and reports, and submit them to the Director of Food Services.
- Coordinate food service with other departments as needed.
- Work with the facility’s dietitian to implement recommended changes.
- Follow all food procedures in accordance with established policies.
- Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
- Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
- Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
- Prepare therapeutic diet meals in accordance with planned menus.
- Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
- Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
- Must handle personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public with tact.
- Must be knowledgeable of food procedures.
- Must demonstrate leadership ability and willingness to collaborate with others.
- Must follow oral and written instructions.
- Must maintain supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas, and conduct regular inspections for sanitation, order, safety, and performance.
- Must seek new methods and principles and incorporate them into food practices.
- Must successfully complete a background check, pre‑employment physical, and drug screening.
