Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Pleasanton Elementary as a Certified Teacher. In this full-time position, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and social development of our students. You will create a positive and engaging learning environment, fostering curiosity and a love for learning while ensuring that each student reaches their full potential.
Teachers shall be assigned, supervised, and evaluated by the building principal. Their duties shall include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Overall Responsibilities- To teach and educate students assigned to them according to local and state instructional guidelines under the guidance of school administration.
- To teach and educate students according to the educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to your care.
- Planning and supplementing instructional activities consistent with district approved educational objectives. Selection of educationally appropriate instructional materials.
- Directing and supervision of assigned students in all learning and school related activities to ensure an environment that is conducive and safe for learning.
- Maintaining an accurate record of each student’s attendance and progress. Ensuring grades and other relevant data is recorded on permanent records.
- Complying with all local, state, and federal guidelines in regard to professional ethics.
- Providing supervision and guidance to ensure appropriate student behavior. Prioritizing the safety of students and staff anywhere on school grounds as well as on school sponsored field trips or activities off school grounds.
- Including regular and frequent classroom assessment activities, both formal and informal, to monitor, analyze and evaluate student learning.
- Effectively communicate with peers, administration, students and parents about student successes, challenges or behavioral concerns.
- Provide constructive input on issues such as curriculum, staffing, scheduling, discipline, textbook selection and other school related topics.
- Engage in continued professional development by attending and actively participating in school sponsored professional development, outside professional development opportunities, and serving on various school related committees.
- Ensure equitable learning opportunities for all students in your charge. Facilitate learning by focusing on the individual needs of each student, differentiating instruction as needed to maximize their learning potential.
- Be supportive of your peers and all students. Actively support them in their areas of interest and show this support not only by your words, but your actions.
- Understand the evaluation process and that you will be formally evaluated by a district administrator at a minimum of one time per year. Unlimited informal observations may take place throughout the year as well.
- Manage and confer with administration about any stressful situations you are dealing with so that alternatives may be examined to help reduce the effects of the stressor.
- Physical requirements include frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, bending, reaching or pulling. Lifting may be required up to 30 lbs and carrying objects up to 30 feet may also be required. Your responsibilities may include assisting students with articles of clothing. Driving a school vehicle with students aboard may be required in certain circumstances. Manual dexterity activities including writing, keyboarding and data entry will be frequently required.
You may also be required to operate various audio-visual components and be computer literate and use various software applications. - Minimum educational requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent acceptable by the Nebraska Department of Education. You must also hold or readily be able to apply for and receive a Nebraska teaching certificate with endorsements in the area of assignment.
