Equipment Specialist POSITION PURPOSE

The Equipment Specialist performs daily tasks under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager. Duties consist of traveling to all system locations, checking equipment and facilities for proper operation of kitchen equipment, HVAC systems, pumps, electrical distribution and other essential equipment throughout the system facilities. Duties also include the cleaning and sanitizing food and beverage equipment. It requires frequent and consistent walking through different mechanical equipment rooms, going up and down stairs, ladders, and ramps.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma plus specialized training
  • Technical Diploma in related field preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 3 to 5 years
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • ASOPE Facility Operating Engineer (or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire)
  • Valid Drivers License
  • CFESA Certification preferred
  • EPA Type II or EPA Universal certification Preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, dishwashers, refrigerators, and grills.
  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC equipment such as pumps, air handlers, exhaust fans, and other various hospital equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure the equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Document all service activities, repairs, and maintenance work accurately.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and hospital staff to understand equipment issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Order and replace the parts as necessary to maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards during all repair and maintenance activities.
  • Provide training for kitchen and hospital staff on proper equipment use and care.
  • Stay updated on the latest kitchen and HVAC equipment technologies and repair techniques.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools and parts required for equipment servicing.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers for warranty service and technical support as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.
PRINCIPLE

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Performs preventive maintenance and equipment repair on various systems throughout the hospital, which vary in complexity and skill.
  • Travel to various sites.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects of 75 pounds above head and with arms fully extended.
  • Interprets gauges and readings on various equipment control panels in order to adjust temperatures and settings to the proper levels and conditions.
  • Must also be able to interpret results of chemical water test and appropriate amounts of chemicals to maintain the preset balance.
  • Performs maintenance duties as a fill-in function on off shift hours and provides duties as assigned by priority.
  • Prevents maintenance, repairs, modifications of equipment, participation in meetings and other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to take call, as scheduled, to respond to equipment breakdowns and failures.
  • Documentation of work and job functions is included on a regular basis and is kept timely and up-to-date including work order requests, preventive maintenance procedures and other necessary job history documentation.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Balance workload, document repairs and PMs, vendor management, calibrate equipment, troubleshoot equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures and inventory validation.
  • All other duties as assigned.
