Overview
Production operators are an integral part of our team and are responsible for monitoring one or more plastic injection-molding machines in accordance with standard operating procedures. Operators help ensure products meet customer quality expectations through safe handling, basic assembly and hot stamping, and any necessary rework processes (trimming, cleaning, etc.). Operators are also responsible for keeping the production area clean and organized according to local 5S standards.
This position has multiple openings with 12-hour rotating shifts:
Day shift 7:00 am–7:30 pm and Night shift 7:00 pm–7:30 am.
- Operate and monitor one or more plastic injection-molding machines by safely removing parts from material handling devices (e.g., chutes, conveyors) and performing secondary operations (e.g., hot stamping, assembly, trimming and stacking) within a specified cycle time and according to standard operating procedures.
- Perform any required rework processes, which may include trimming, flaming, and cleaning.
- Perform basic assembly functions, such as attaching accessories/components to a molded product.
- Stack products and use dollies to safely transport products.
- Operate auxiliary decorating, stacking, and automated equipment that may include hot stamping machines, conveyors, stackers, etc.
- Timely and accurately complete all required production paperwork; accurately account for all scrap parts produced during the shift.
- Adhere to Quality and Safety requirements; maintain general housekeeping standards throughout the plant by sorting, sweeping, and cleaning, or as otherwise instructed.
- Visually inspect and ensure that the product is manufactured and packaged to customer specifications.
- Meet minimum production and quality standards and keep pace with the cycle time of the respective molding machine.
- Communicate with the previous shift, relief, supervision and other operators to exchange information on process conditions and other pertinent issues; notify supervisor immediately if a problem arises at the machine (e.g., quality, safety, mechanical problem/defect).
- High School Diploma, GED, or comparable work-related experience preferred.
- Prior experience as a production operator in molded plastic or other fast-paced production-based manufacturing or warehouse environments preferred.
- Actively engages in a team-based environment.
- Must be able to learn and execute all work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality practices/standards.
- Must be able to articulate parts and components for assembly or decoration for over 50% of the time.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level to access products and supplies (up to 40% of the time).
- Must be able to lift parts and supplies weighing up to 30 lbs. a distance of up to 10 ft. from machines, carts, conveyors, etc.
- Must be able to move parts using an assisting device weighing up to 260 lbs. a distance of up to 10 ft. from machines, carts, conveyors, etc.
