Position: Yoga Instructor - $36-45 per class DOE

Position Summary

Yoga Instructor – $36-45 per class (DOE) at Ravi's Import Warehouse.

Availability

Ideal availability: late morning on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Instructor should be able to adapt teaching for an older population and be qualified to lead gentle, yin, or restorative classes.

Essential Functions
  • Provide highly engaging yoga instruction to members of all fitness levels in group workouts and workshops.
  • Provide instruction to members on the safe use of all equipment and workouts.
  • Assist in yoga program and workshop design.
  • Engage by greeting members and providing quality member service.
  • Maintain high standards of communication with supervisor, members, staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all facility and equipment in the Fitness Centers.
  • Responsible for recording information as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain standards of conduct as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Attend all department staff meetings and trainings specified by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Physically perform all skills required of a Yoga Instructor; reasonable accommodations may be made.
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to supervise program activities and respond to emergencies.
  • Must occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequent bending & standing.
  • Visual ability to clearly monitor activities.
  • Ability to project, communicate and queue effectively.
Qualifications
  • Specialized certification(s) in yoga teaching from accredited organizations.
  • Understanding of the philosophy and background of various forms of yoga and meditation.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (e.g., Red Cross, American Heart Association).
  • Ability to teach and design programs using props and other class-related equipment.
  • Completion of YMCA safety certifications within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • At least 18 years of age.
