Description

Aquatics Coordinator at Pleasant Hill YMCA, part of YMCA of the East Bay. This full‑time, non‑exempt role focuses on supervising the aquatics team and delivering direct aquatic services through lifeguarding, swim lessons, and water fitness instruction. The ideal schedule is Monday‑Thursday and Saturday, with flexibility for additional availability.

Responsibilities for This Position
  • Provide direct service (50% of the position) through lifeguarding, swim instruction, and water fitness instruction.
  • Act as program lead for aquatics in the absence of the Aquatics and Senior Aquatics Directors.
  • Assist the Aquatics Director with scheduling (When To Work ) and assessment of lifeguards and swim instructors.
  • Develop and lead aquatic staff in‑service trainings.
  • Maintain and track pool records (population counts, chemical checks, staff certifications, equipment checks, collision logs, and other records as assigned).
  • Assist with group swim lesson wait‑list management.
  • Assist with private lesson management.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Lead ARC Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid training programs for staff and members.
  • Deliver exemplary member service and ensure policies provide quality and safe programs for all members.
  • Participate in and support annual fundraising efforts.
  • Serve as a member of the branch leadership team.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • Demonstrated lifeguarding skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years of lifeguarding experience.
  • Ability to teach swim lessons and water fitness classes (ongoing training provided).
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Adaptable in a high‑paced, flexible environment.
  • Effective communication with diverse community groups.
Required Certifications & Education

ARC or YMCA Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, and Standard First Aid.
